that setup is only legal in ON and PQ. The centipede trailers are not allowed west of MB/ON border and restricted east of PQ

But ive seen them on 94 on Michigan.
-
True but you were asking about Canada.
Yes they are in MI and selected corridors in OH and IN and they were originally to haul steel and heavy raw materials for the auto industry. -
They steer fine. 95% of Canadian multi-axle trucks running Ont-Mi-Ind are six axles. They run their 5th wheel as far ahead as they can while still keeping the inner bridge at 11'6". American trucks running that Mi-In corridor can be 8 axle sleds. They steer ok too because they run their 5th wheel far ahead. A lot of time on the the front drive. They only need a 9' inner bridge. The trailers have shallow kingpin settings too.Oxbow Thanks this.

Im sorry i gave wrong impression. I was asking about the ones i saw that were american. I thought it was cause they came from Canada cause Canada has different axle laws im sure.
-
the multi axle trailers in Michigan have lift axles, from 2-5, depending on who specd' it out. Even with the lift axles up, you have to be careful on turns cause the trailer can lift the drives off the ground.
Trucker61016 and Oxbow Thank this. -
Ever seen a south dakota rock train? Think they've got 18 axles on those things
-
If you're going with the eastern style RGN. and not the western 16 wheel Cozad.
For example a D9 cat is about 108,000 pounds. I've hauled this with a 4 Axel truck And a four axle trailer. Permit wise I am legal on each Axel but not to sure about the trailer rating. (not Legal).(weight of the trailer and weight of the load added together). . For example rated 80,000 pound trailer. Could haul around 67,000. Depending on the weight of the trailer and the load combine. I hope this makes sense to you. -
That doesn’t make sense, a trailer rated at 80,000 can haul 80,000. Mines rated 55 ton in 12’, so it can haul 55 ton.SAR, snowman_w900, beastr123 and 2 others Thank this.

I think he meant you have to subtract the tare weight for his 80,000 trailer.
