I understand that they need to keep tabs on the time taken (mostly for keeping to their schedules), but not to the point that you fail if you exceed it; doing the test correctly should far outweigh doing it fast.

That’s your call to make. Understand, if you go to another province to get your licence but live in Manitoba, your licence will be revoked until you retest in Manitoba.magoo68 Thanks this.
-
Also remember EVERY province is cracking down more on what they pass in the cdl test .. in a few years it sounds like a lot of provinces will have much stricter rules on getting a cdl
-
They should retest everyone who has gotten one from the license mills. Every driver those SOBS turned out
I know locally its not a easy road test because the driver has to enter and exit a very tight strip mall, no curb scuffing'!magoo68 Thanks this. -
I cant remember the route but it included Nairn which is a good test of a newbie in traffic.. mind you that was decades ago loldgudmundson Thanks this.

Use to be. They moved the testing to the new testing center on gateway several years ago. Not sure what the route is now. Funny story.... the instructor took me on the narin route backwards, which involved blind corners and some risky manoeuvres. When he realized what he did, he just said, do what you have to do to get back. And I did.magoo68 Thanks this.

If the said "school" is as bad as you say, by wasting tax-payers money and setting you up to fail... don't you think that's worth reporting to your Legislative Representative? A scam is a scam, regardless if it's Provincially funded. If you can prove you were "taught" below standards, contributing to your failure, then the proper people need to be informed. If not for yourself, do it for the next victim that attends that "school".

I know certain schools are doing the rounds ..by visiting rural companies and telling them .."if you want to employ someone as a driver after getting their licence the gov pays for their licence at no cost to you" I heard the spiel when I was in the shop one afternoon...…………...professional driving school was well worth the money 12 yrs ago did the 6 week course to get log book ready ,etc...had picked up a lot o bad habits from 27yrs trucking in Scotland.
dgudmundson Thanks this. -
I know I would have had no problem with Nairn, the Overpass, or Lagimodiere. The only turn that I might have had some problem with is right onto Chalmers from Watt. Super tight.Last edited: Nov 5, 2018

I believe that the School operated to the best of their abilities, but their curriculum, lack of consistency, and ego may have, "set me up to fail", but it was not intentional. Proving that their teaching was below standards would require that these Schools have standards, and that the standards are adequate. AFAIK, there are neither. My only, "evidence" if you will, is that after two attempts each - one person out of eight got their Class 1.
I am chronicaling my experience and sharing it with the School, The Province, and MPI.
As for the, "scam" part. Not all scams are, "scams" in the vein of Nigerian 419s, or a game of Three Card Monty. The context for, "scam" here is the government using taxpayer dollars to subsidize the Trucking Industry. Given that it just cost the Manitoba Taxpayer ~$70,000 to train _one_ driver . . . it's a scam. It's the government buying votes and securing support in the Trucking Industry here in Manitoba. FTR, the previous government (NDP) set up the program and the current government (PC) tweeked it, but it's essentially the same. So it's not a partisan observation.
