The point I'm making is freight isnt the end all be all. Theres still money to be made out there and ways to gain security for yourself after you retire. Guys get too wrapped up in benefits and pension and will just do whatever the company/union demands. Im in my first year. My pay is dog crap. And so will my pay for at least the next 2 yrs as well. I can literally get a job making 70k+ a year within a week with good insurance and other goodies. So you figure that gives me a few years of making GOOD money that I can invest vs working for dog crap and hoping I can get enough good hours in for my year to count towards pension.
I guess for me, it just means im still voting no. Theyre not gonna scare me into voting yes.

What! Thats crazy. They are HARDCORE on shutting the whole operation down, but were supposed to believe theyre gonna start it all back up if the vote is yes. Seems unlikely.Mike2633 Thanks this.

My thoughts exactly. One of my friends is an o/o for UPSF and they're routing them all home to be home by tomorrow. Heard from him about an hour ago, and he stopped to get fuel and couldn't. The guy on the call a few days ago specifically said they would not do that to people. Pretty f'd up. It's really hard to see how this entity survives. I understand they may be worried about people filling their tanks and bolting, but UPS requires o/o to keep a $2k escrow partially for this reason. This guy has been with them a while.

To each its own... long run Ups freight is the better choice... Its rough at the beginning but it gets better in the 3 year.. This probably the only few jobs where you can make a 100k and still have all the benefits..

Hang on, let me tell him a guy on the forum said they didnt cut off his fuel card because the guy on the call said they wouldn't. That should make him feel better about it all.just_sayin, Mike2633 and Bob Dobalina Thank this.

Did they not tell you the starting wage before you accepted the position? Did they not tell you it’s a 4 year progression? If you could make 70k somewhere else you should have took that job. You would be making over 100 k a year after progression as a road driver. You’re not going to find that any where else. You have to pay your dues just like all of us that have tenure did before.just_sayin and Mike2633 Thank this.
