As most of you know I lost my job at Werner, this occurred early December. At first it was a mere inconvenience, after all, we were a team, with 0 accidents, and a minor ticket on my record within the last 5 years. My husband had 10 years + experience, which seemed to be all that was needed to negate any companies issues with my experience and that minor ticket. We pretty much had PICK of the companies, because even those that wanted 2 years experience were willing to overlook my only having 18 months due to us teaming and my husbands experience.

We had many companies respond initially, but held out for the one company I thought we wanted, Interstate Distrib. We jumped through their hoops with flying colors, and they called us up 3rd week of Decemeber to finish up our application.

Unbeknownst to me during this my husband was secretly courting Schneider. He had gone to an interview for a local temp trucking co, and during that time had apparently gone out to fill out an application for Schneider. And like an idiot, he fell for the song and dance of them saying they could get him into a local job right away. I told him it wouldn't happen, but even with his 10 years of trucking industry expierence he still fell for the same old song and dance (I guess I should have seen it coming he did work for JB Hunt TWICE, quit the first time due to mileage issues, and then went back a year later when they told him they wouldnt do it again lol).

Anyway, long story short, its now almost March, he is OTR not local, and attached is his paycheck synopsis for the last few weeks. He stays out 2 weeks, comes home late friday to early saturday, leaves out monday. I can make what he is making at Mcdonalds, only more consistantly. In fact, he made less in 2 months then we together made in 3 weeks. (We made about 4200 in three weeks at about 4000 miles a week at .38 cents).

I am tired of the same old song and dance from him, our relantionship is pretty much on the rocks. I have to juggle around bills because if I leave it to him he pays the wrong ones. I have bills I need to pay and he cannot even pay his bills on the money he makes and all I get from him is "Oh when I get on that local thing", which is getting old because he is relying on information from a truck driver friend on what he will make there and we all know how people like to exaggerate (especially you truckers :biggrin_25525:)...

I've been out of trucking since Dec. 08, how long before companies start passing me up because I've been out too long? Am I already past that point?

I've waited about as long as I can wait, in two years this boy has lied to me more then anyone I have ever met in my LIFE. I need to pay my bills, I don't have many, but I do have them. I miss trucking, alot, and I didn't go to school to get a CDL to ride in a truck and watch myself fall into debt. If he wants to fall into debt making stupid decision after stupid decision thats fine, but he's not going to drag me with him.

Put it this way, see the paychecks... house is 900 a month, water 30, electric 100-200, phones 350, various other bills 600, throw in eating on the road, the pets, car insurance, health insurance, hell we are in the hole. We almost lost the house, had I not given him all the funds from the tax refund we would have. Which screwed me up yet again because I had plans for that money (and I checked, without me and my son he'd only gotten 600 in refund, with me and son (whom he doesnt even like :biggrin_25510:) we got well over 2k).

I need a job, and I want it to be trucking, so I guess I am going solo, and if so I am going solo all the way (divorce :biggrin_25511:).

The way the economy is right now, there is no easy answer for anyone trying to make it out here. I'm sure your husband is as frustrated as you.

Don't let that money crap do it to you.

December wasn't that long ago, even though it may feel like forever. If you're good with money and bills, and pets, then you probably need to nurture. He certainly needs you... opposites attract, etc.

You're both probably no different now than all those little things that made you get together in the first place.

Actually the man I got together with was a different man, and I've come to realize over the last year that he was pretending to be that guy, and this guy is who he is. There is very little I like about this guy. He's controlling, uptight, and never listens to me even when I am handing him money to fix issues he has created himself. I can't keep pretending things are going to change. Its not the economy, thats just another excuse. The fact is when we were pulling in $$$ fast and easy as team, he was STILL a jerk. And had he listened then we wouldn't be in this mess now.

He does what he wants regardless of who gets hurt. And that has led us into money issues EVERY SINGLE TIME. The economy is not so bad that a team couldn't make 3k miles a week, as a team we could be dispatched 24/7 the moment a load comes open we could go. As a team we have a higher priority for dispatch, can run further when we do get loaded, and we could easly make 4k a MONTH, not every 2 months. And I mean that EASILY. Thats only what 11000 miles? Less then 3000 a week?

Well it looks like 6 months is a universal cut-off for most of the companies, so time is ticking. I see lots of 6 months in the last year OTR experience in the criteria.

Yes but 6 months of whatever experience you have has to have been in the last year. So after 6 months out, you no longer have that even if you been driving 20 years.

USX Claims to have the world's largest female fleet... but they're wanting teams too.

There are some solo companies hiring. I know American Eagle is definitely hiring because I called them today. I do believe they have a place in Fort Worth, or at least their parent company FFE does.

I talked with FFE today and they told me to put an application in and call back every couple of weeks because they are on not seeking anyone at this point.
