If drivers want to drive for these companies with inward facing cameras in otr trucks then so be it...not me...and this seems to be the consensus with most experienced drivers..KB3MMX Thanks this. -
I have half tempted to slam both fists down at the Insurance Numbnuts and roar at them Be Insruance. Pay out valid damaged stuff. Otherwise GTFO of that truck and company stuff.
What gives them the right to decide what so and so inside a company does. I once sat on my ### in Hot springs with a arkansas tanker outfit for 5 hours waiting for their insurance to approve me. While i was waiting a tanker driver quit under a load of cream worth 70,000 that now just got a big clock put on it. I told boss let's go. Hop in we go get that tanker and you bring tractor right?
Oh no. We wait for the insurance on you. Are you kidding me?
I lasted 10 days with them. JBH hired me away with almost double pay per mile and a number of cannot refuse goodies. I only stayed with them three weeks becuse I was issued a cabover despite bending over backwards that I take cars out with them. And sure enough vehicle number three got dinged. I quit later that week. But nothing but good memories. And it was make a impression on them too. They kept calling almost 4 years after to see if I want to run. Not with the cancer problem we didnt among other issues.
I call those the lost 3 years in Arkansas. literally take three years of a life and shove a stick of dynamite under it. BOOM for all the value it had lost then.Numb Thanks this. -
Allowing stomping of the 4th amendment, they keep trying to push the boundaries with this crap!DSK333 Thanks this. -
I never thought I'd ever see a law passed that would force a Carrier to agree to constant 27/7/365 coordinates tracking of their assets either but here it is today....a law. When you own your asset sometimes you want to use it personal things off duty with privacy. Now with the ELD mandate that's no longer possible. Only the naive will believe that "they" will stop with that. You can bet your tush that cameras are coming. Just like the speed limiters are. Luckily, there was an executive order passed that stopped the speed limiter law but how long will that last?
The Megas do it to stomp out competition just like the Unions did before de-regulation and the insurance companies do it to skate out of paying claims. You can't just go to another insurance company when there's only three in the entire country that write commercial policies. It looks like you have many options due to all the agents out there but if you look into it a little more they are just brokering from three providers and the top of the chain.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 21, 2018

The company I am leased to doesn't have "Nanny Cams" or cattle prods you "sit on". I have my own forward facing dash cam
I have thought about adding rear facing cameras on the mirrors AND a camera mounted behind me that can show what I am doing in response to the Darwin contenders. That would show what I am doing at the controls of my rig.
Personally I don't give a #### about driver facing cameras. They can watch me all day doing my ####ing job. Anyone else eating a cheeseburger or watching porn may differ in their opinion.x1Heavy Thanks this.
