Thanks for the reply!
All those sensors sound pretty annoying if you have to put up with a phone call everytime you go over the limit just a bit. That's good to know. That's something the recruiter didn't tell me yet lmao.
I have also talked to quite a few companies and there are jobs out there; however, as a rookie I am a bit scared about choosing a company as there are so many horror stories out there. $2500 net would be pretty nice for now for me too. I've just talked to an LTL company as well, they don't usually hire newbies, but they said they are interested. We'll see how it will play out. I'll start trucking mid-January (great timing, I know) and hopefully I'll end up with a half decent job. Most recruiters change their tone as soon as I tell them I want to live in the truck and drive as much as possible lol.
What do you do currently? LTL , TL, Reefer, flat or something else?

I did dry van, Canada to USA. 0.44 cents a mile but we get paid for waiting, trailer switches and live loads and unloads. Just gotta learn how to be efficient with your time and use their system to your own advantage. I worked in the airline industry for a while, pay was horrible. Used to net $900 every 2 weeks like you. Trucking is a great way to make money, I still don't understand why people on this forum complain so much. I know people who did 4 years college or university and only net $1000 a week.

They send you messages over Qualcomm when you go over the parameters. Usually it's a premade message. You get 10 warnings before they call you in and lecture you. Keep doing it and you will get a "random" drug test.
As for me I do dry van from Toronto to Michigan area. There and back everyday and my company pays a flat rate of $400 a day and $60 extra per delivery. Once in a while I'll go to KY. Only people who get hired here is through word of mouth.TheStopSignGuy Thanks this. -
Probably the people who lecture about it don't even have licenses lol.
Oh good for you man, you got that with 6 months of experience. Yeah I have a bunch of companies but the are more or less the same pay wise when it comes to entry level newbie driver jobs. We'll see how it goes!
Thanks for the replies man!Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
Haha I see some people on this forum saying trucking has no money in it yet they keep driving. I'm happy with the company I work with, gave me a brand new 2019 Volvo vnl when I started, 15 more Freightliners on the way.
But gotta start at the bottom of the totem poll usually, not always but mostly. I'd say get your challenger experience and find work elsewhere like I did
If you have any more questions you can always PM me, met another guy on this forum that's starting challenger December 5th.TheStopSignGuy Thanks this. -
New article about incorporated drivers. Biggest problem I see with these Drivers Inc is the cultural difference. Revenue Canada is going to have to hire a army of employees to collect taxes. These immigrants will claim ignorance, poverty, play the race card, anything but pay their taxes but that is not discussed, just fill the seats and move freight..

I'm a newly licenced driver thinking about going with Challenger. I have heard that they have good trucks with automatic gears. This is a big bonus for me because, although I am pretty good at shifting, not having to worry about gears lets me better focus my attention on everything else.
Are there any Challenger drivers out there that can tell me what the trucks are like to live in? I guess the new drivers will get the oldest trucks but is it safe to assume that there will be a fridge and a microwave? I'm not big on fast food or eating out plus its expensive. Do the trucks have 120 volt sockets and what kind of APU does the truck have and will it have working AC? -
New drivers to get the older trucks yes, however all the trucks are 3 years old or newer. All have fridges and power inverters with APU's. They also come with power outlets, you just gotta buy your own microwave.

Gonna be hard to crack down on the thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people doing this. I know many non immigrants running on driver inc. I know some drivers that have been incorporated company drivers for 15+ years no issues.dancecanyon Thanks this.

Thanks for your reply. I can buy my own Microwave, they are pretty cheap. I just wanted to know that there is somewhere to plug it in. I would probably buy an electric kettle to make my own coffee too. Is it definitely an APU and not an EPU? I guess this means I would have to turn the APU on whenever the engine is not running to keep the fridge cold or is it automated? How does it work exactly?
