I did a load in Jan. for this one broker and I am now having trouble on having him pay me. I feel as if he's just giving the run around. What can I do?

Get an atttorney if you don't already have one. Probably going to have to file a suit against the brokerage company. I take it you've never use this one before?

At it a year and this is the first broker you have wait to get paid? You are real lucky then. My take on it is the freight was probably double brokered by some mom and pop brokerage and they are waiting to get paid before you do. If thats not the case find a collection agency to go after them, Oh ya and tell everyone who they are because we NEED to know who these ripoff artist freight pimps are!!!!!!

well you need to look at the contract because some of them have a clause of 90days to 6months before you get your money.

Anyone that pay's that slow... needs to find a new occupation. Be patient, .. If you do,.. Go "The lawyer route" .... Everyone looses BIG Time.... It's not worth it, for that little money. I would recommend "Lawyer Insurance"

Thanks! I guess I'll wait another week or so...I mean he did say that they pay within 7 days and has now been alittle over a month...

If a 'little over a month' is 2 or 3 days, then call him every day asking if they have received your invoice and PODs and if so, when is the check going to hit the mailbox. Seriously, call EVERY DAY!! Be a pest. That will get you paid quicker if he/she is going to pay you. Squeaky wheel gets greased.
If a 'little over a month' means a week or two, send him/her a certified letter demanding payment. Set a drop dead date (45 days from load completion, ususally) and tell him if the check isn't in your hands you will file against his bond.
Also, what was his/her credit rating and average days to pay? I assume you knew this before taking the load. If his average days to pay was 45+ and his credit was <80 then you just did the load for free, most likely. What did his/her trade and credit references say when you called them? You did that, right?
What ever you do, don't just give it a few more days. From day 1-30 you can be a nice guy, but after 30 days you have to be a jerk (still acting in a professional manner). It should be like feeding Mogwai after midnight...
Think about it. If you were the broker, who would you pay first? The guy who is calling every day or the guy who is waiting patiently. They aren't going to pay you because they like you, they are going to pay you to get you off of their back. This is the sad reality of this industry.
