I drive for Marten, they are a good company (almost identical to Crete, which I have driven for in the past). Since the start of December I have been averaging between 1800-2200 miles a week. Over the summer I was avg over 3000 a week. It's been basically drive 2 days, sit a day, drive 2 sit 1, etc. And we haul food, people have to eat, right? I also see alot of Crete trucks sitting everywhere I go. It's bad all over the industry. If you leave cuz you are getting low miles you'll just jump into the same situation or worse somewhere else.

hearing from some crete drivers, its hard to get home, but me good miles, and they do alot of drop/hook. You have to follow there routes even if its some country two lane, even if the interstate would be quicker. They are strict with out of route miles. Some of there apu's are the batterey type,(elec) where they are only good for 10 hours. No good if you are doing a 34 hour reset in the summer. Probally not to bad a company if you can stay out for six weeks at a time. Crete hauls dry vans.

If you want some good reading about crete, go to evertruckers post. Its called " Crete, a year in review "

The routing is just a suggested route, you don't have to follow it exactly. You can't do tolls unless they are on the routing, but you can route yourself.
They have never been real strict w/ me about OOR miles, however I'm usually around 6% OOR as an average, and that must be acceptable. Most of the time I'm within 2-3%.
Getting home depends a lot on where you live, but your home days are maxed out after 24 days, so I usually stay out 24-28 days and then get home for 4 or so.

When does Crete make you use your chains, or do they? Some companies want you to keep going and others say when it's time for chains it's time to pull off the road. How about Crete?
