Adding anti gel fluid to my fuel tanks.

i'd not go below 32 degree's myself.

 

If you cant add it before you fill, make sure you run the truck for 30 minutes or so after you put the additive in so it can blend with the diesel in the tank.

 

i personally, only add what the directions say per fuel tank capacity. no need to over do the chemical additives. i know at times, it does not seem like much per tank, but they got that crap figured out pretty well.

 

I guess I am about to show my ignorance here, but I was of the understanding that the refineries changed over to a winter blend now. I thought this rendered these additives moot.

 

Certain places don’t add the antigel blend or so I heard. Places tend to be below i10. Again I heard, don’t know if it’s true.

 

the winter blend you are talking about a change in the fuel to cut done on some types of smog gasses (DEQ mandate) it has nothing to do the changing the temp that fuel will gell at. this is not the same as winter blendED that is a mix of diesel #2 (when we use all the time) and diesel #1

the gell point of diesel depends on the diesel and how much BIOdiesel is mixed... 100% diesel will start to gell around 22-25 but 100% biodiesel will gell at 32 so somewhere between them is where your fuel will start to gell.

for me I add anti-gell at 25

Relax, when I was active I also added when I bought fuel. If you ever get caught with gelled fuel you learn!
