Turnover's Going Back Up

I was wondering why a fleet that usually never advertises has signs up everywhere. This is two major changes in two years. Good while it lasted.

Drove by the westbound scale in banning yesterday, sign read scale closed do not enter.

Trucks were still entering the scale, monkey see monkey do.

Don’t know if they couldn’t read English, or couldn’t see the sign.

Even at that rate that’s still good 40 more bucks than what I make on a good day.

 

I'm an owner operator taking home a decent amount and home daily most of the time. Driving a tandem dump truck paid me $25/hour plus over time over 8 in a day, anyone who tries to entice me to drive their truck and not be home daily needs to offer what I make after expenses. Those jobs are out there

 

Ive worked for a mega, local and small carrier that had a waiting list. Then at a private school with a mega carrier contract and all I can say is 90% of the trainees first answer to, " What gets you into trucking?" Was simply the MONEY. Now as a trainer absolutely nobody has a clue how hard and extensive it is!

 

Hell, you can get a Walmart job tomorrow. If you’re willing to drive out of Hermiston, OR. That DC always need drivers.

I can’t give you the price of diesel at this moment. But I paid $1.27 a liter for petro this week. That’s about 3.78 US for a gallon.
