Yeah tiny bit of end play. Weird. Sounds like scraping the housing. Hopefully you can get some downtime to return it for another. Unless someone on here comes up with magical solution

I hope so lol
Flatbed freight sucks right now so not missing out on much. just want it fixed.that noise is pretty annoying! -
Possibilities- Exhaust gasket, take a feeler gauge and try to slip it in around the exhaust port anywhere and listen for any pitch changes (while still cool), Bellows pipe inner metal seal either broken or missing, Compressor intake side should have an inner aluminum port seal ring (contoured) that's held in place with a metal ring or snap ring (groove), removed for rebuilding. If not installed won't hurt a thing but will whistle like the dickens.Roadking96 Thanks this.

So found the problem.the gasket was broken off from one end at the hot pipe going into egr cooler.luckliy didn’t have to remove the turbo or the whole manifold.but it was in very tight spot so did end with bruised knuckles lol
Thanks everyone for the input!!!Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

I got the same sound I replaced the turbo and still doing it. I'm gonna check all gaskets and see if there's one broken. -
On mine it was exhaust gasket for EGR hot pipe.best way to find out is to start up the engine while its cold and spray some soapy water on the manifold especially where gaskets are.you will see big bubbles where the leak is.but be quick about it.spray it down before the manifold gets too hot.also look for black soot.Luangarcia Thanks this.
