There is no trust in business Padwon.

There is calculated risk and minimizing your exposure.

Maybe in your world that's true. If so, you'll deal with it the best you can I'm sure.

In my world there is trust. It's earned trust, to be sure, but it's trust . I trust our drivers, our shop people, our office staff, and our customers. The trust is automatic until proved otherwise. If I can't trust them they're not here very long.
We've let people go that we couldn't trust. Some were lazy, some were thieves, some were liars, some were whiners who'd rather argue than work. We let them go because we couldn't trust them to work within the guidelines that have kept this little company going for over thirty years. We haven't let very many go but we were glad when they were gone.

I suppose that's true to a degree. I have people I interact with in a professional respect manner.

Only been here since September and haven’t had to yet. Chained plenty running maxi flat in the NW and Western Canada.

If the road is open you shouldn’t need an attaboy to chain up and keep moving. You should do the job you signed up to do. We had a new guy who drove from our yard to the bottom of Lost Trail Pass. It was snowing pretty good so he turned around and drove 50 miles back to our yard. Told the boss it was too treacherous. Boss said that 6 of us had already gone over the pass and gave him two options. Clean his truck out and go home or go chain up and get to Utah.

I thought of a pay this morning that I would like to see enacted.

As well as shower pay, I think "Brush and floss, ok that's a pipe dream, let's just go with 'Brush your teeth' pay should definitely be brought forth.

    Well said.

In my business the lions share of my work is done without a contract. I know and trust my client, and we have always been able to talk our way through any disparity.

Contracts are only as good as the integrity and intentions of those that sign them.

I am not advising anyone to do away with written agreements, but trust and character are very important to me.
