I really think it’s a company thing then. Cause I didn’t find anything and I got my permit on the dmv without problems.

Switched jobs in November 2013, applied at a new company, at that time I had my CDL 4 months.
Wasn't a problem at all, filled out all the paperwork (DOT required) and was hired. It's definitely a company thing, but you need a work history, even it was in another country.

I worked in Canada for a few years, it was easy for the company to verify my work history.
This could be more a problem for you as the company has to verify your jobs in Europe.
Did you work in Switzerland before your move?

Only the company is going to try to verify your 3 year work record. Yes it’s a requirement by our DMV but they don’t verify it they leave the job to the company .

I totally BSed on my 3 year history. You know some over in Switzerland that can help you out when they call on your past job

    Where abouts in Switzerland?

What matters is accounting for time.

If I could tell the company exactly what I have done these last three, five, seven or ten years according to Homeland Security... there is no problem. Part of it is surgeries. Part of it is Caregiving, part is on TTR and other activities. No problem. What did I do for a living? Used to be a trucker. With who? Half are out of business. The only source of their existance is the Social Security Lifetime income data which must workers don't have or know how to get on themselves. I have a bunch of experience and can prove it within a few minutes at the driving etc. But as far as the paper records are concerned, I am just like a newbie.

Here in America we have a work visa. We also have a tourist visa etc. GENERALLY under international licensing rules we would acknowledge certain licenses for driving, for example when I visited UK in the 80's my car license was no problem for driving over there on the left side of the road. But that would never happen because my folks cannot understand that there is literally no problem on my end. The more they told me it's impossible to do it (Drive) the easier it is for me to get into trucking.

At some point you will see your visa expire and you will have to go back to the Country you came from I would imagine. Unless you can renew it somehow.

I met my wife in Switzerland and she is the reason I’m here. I have a work visa yet but my greencard should be here anytime soon. I will get started then and pay the school by myself.

How bad is it if I have a 1 year work history hole in the last 3 years?

You’re going to have to explain it in detail, or fill it with something reasonable. Filling it may require lots of documentation.

I don’t understand the OP’s issue. Especially since I know several people who came into the US with a Green Card, and were driving a truck within months.
