I think you are entitled to your opinion, Mr. MacIsaac. I also think more drivers would agree with me that devices such as autosocks aren't really such a great idea to try to pull 63,500 Kgs up the Coq, that's why C.V.S.E. rescinded the approval of them, and just singles on one drive axle, as well. I would suspect the Autosock company had no real-world chance to test their product here, in B.C. mountains with our weights, and they might have honestly thought they would work. Hopefully, they will stop marketing them here, and perhaps offer refunds to customers in the interest of customer satisfaction. Good luck on the hills this winter...SteerTire Thanks this.

I love how everyone made this about autosocks, when I didn't even mention them in my original post. I said I carried them, in a different post. I also use them, well I've used them once in the three years I've had them. That's because one I know how to root plants and two I know how to drive. Although what I bring up the word Alternatives I am also referring to autosocks I also mean the guys who have the auto chains, you know those cool little things that attach to the frame rails of a truck and with a button will flip down and actually put chains underneath the tires as long as they're moving? You know those things that cost quite a large amount of money that both buy and have installed? I think a lot of you people could benefit from rereading the original post slowly and carefully and realize my issue is not with the stricter enforcement my issue is out lying Alternatives after companies has spent money equipping everything with them. I swear to Christ some of you people need to read with a hammer.BigHossVolvo Thanks this.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. The quality of driver across Canada is an absolute joke. Basically if I see out of Mississauga or out of Surrey or Abbotsford BC I try to avoid driving around that driver. And what's more unfortunate is nine times out of 10 I'm right. Tell when I drive through Northern Ontario now I drive with the opp on speed dial and I just call them now. The sum of the #### you see these guys do is just brutal.AModelCat and BigHossVolvo Thank this.

I was thinking the same thing. No way in hell would I try coming down some of the grades you guys do in the winter, with AutoSocks.
Going up? I might try it. But if I ever spun, even once. I’d be hunting a place to chain.
I don’t drive my truck into Canada. But I’m there on a regular basis. I don’t think I would try the grade out of Bella Coola with 6 inch spikes on my drives.
I’m just sayinHighwaySuperTramp Thanks this. -
What's really annoying is having to fix up my old triples for running on bare pavement and order new ones for actual snow. I have not needed them more than once or twice in a couple years since getting out of the super b racket! And I chain up approx 40-50x a season. A pair of singles with good rubber, double lockers, and big power never let me down pulling a tridem.
I get it, I think it's great they are cracking down. I just dont think it's great that a guy in Victoria makes the call as to what configuration is best for all of us guys who have been running up and down the coq and hwy 3 every day regardless of conditions for many years IE chaining FRONT axle for single trailer combination.
To be fair, CVSE hasnt batted an eye at me not chaining the front axle (as required by the new law) I believe even they understand the logic of chaining the rear over the front. I'm not ripping my fenders off. And I'm not running without fenders either with a shallow pin setting. We're pretty fresh into the season though, I'll be sure to post if I'm eventually hassled!Last edited: Dec 13, 2018

All lower 48 approved of and allow socks. I just used mine on Donner in the snowstorm that went across the midwest. I’ve done tons of trips up and down the Coq with them, if you keep the speed under 30mph, and use your lockers/power divider climbing, you’re golden. If you try to race up or down hills over 30mph, the socks can’t handle that. Idk whatever, signed my “No BC” restriction this morning; goes well with my “No Ontario” Restriction LoL.

Amen, glad I’ve got a No BC no Ontario (No East Of Ontario) restriction with the company now. All lower 48, no problem!HighwaySuperTramp Thanks this.

autochains and autosocks

Autosocks have been developed in Norway. As someone who has personally driven heavy trucks over there I can assure you that those guys haul much heavier loads over much more difficult terrain.
If Autosocks work in Norway then they will work anywhere in Canada.BigHossVolvo Thanks this.
