While it is certainly outlandish to say that Greg would be awarded $27 million, I've made a lot of DUI arrests, worked plenty of DUI accidents that included search warrants for blood draw and fatalities. No one would take the drunk driver's case with the toxicology report from the crime lab.
Back to the ridiculous scenarios Greg might find himself in.Dave_in_AZ, PoleCrusher, TripleSix and 3 others Thank this. -
How does your log stop you from writing down IFTA mileage?
Reduces errors? I don't know about that. Drop the truck off at the mechanic and he pulls the truck into the shop and the Elog starts as soon as he drives over 5 mph. Then the Elog is on line 4 for 3 days.
Yard monkey washed the truck....line 4 again. Fuels the truck.....line 4. Test drive after a repair...line 4.
I don't get HOS violations. Never had one. Why should I have to spend $800 per truck on an Elog because the megas want to hire foreign workers that can't log? Why should I have to fax paper to the scale? Is this a level playing field?Last edited: Dec 21, 2018
PoleCrusher and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
BULL #### THE ELOG IS HERE BECAUSE THE ATA WANTED LESS COMPLIANCE EFFORT BY OFFICE STAFF AND THEY WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE THEM NOT JUST THEM. WAKE UP.
WHY DO LIVESTOCK HAULERS HAVE AN EXEMPTION? ARE THEY SUPERIOR DRIVERS? WAKE UP.
EVERY TIME THERE IS A STORM FUEL DRIVERS AND FEMA DRIVERS GET EXEMPTIONS. DOES THE STORM MAKE THEM LESS TIRED? WAKE UP.
MINDLESS IDIOTS ARE EVERYWHERE. WAKE UPLast edited: Dec 21, 2018

Tucker is trying to use the Werner case as an example. Except the Wener driver was on Elogs and HOS legal at the time and still got slapped with 27 millionDave_in_AZ, PoleCrusher, Oxbow and 5 others Thank this.

My wife said it will most likely get overturned on appeal. She sees jury award cases all the time and they overturn and send them back down. Plus Werner has the money to pay the attorneys to starve them out, then settle for much much less to be done with it.Dave_in_AZ, PoleCrusher, 4mer trucker and 2 others Thank this.

Yes. Overturned or at least whittled down to a smaller number or a settlementDave_in_AZ, PoleCrusher, 4mer trucker and 2 others Thank this.

"Force" no, it's just a time clock, but... if your 70 runs out at 6pm, 2 hrs from your drop, which is 10 munites from your home, what do you do?
Sit til midnight to get your recap and go. So at 230 am you arrive home tired. Delivery done and only 2 hours late. .., when you could have just been home at 830 pm. Feet up. Happens to me EVERY week now. It's how my run works out. Before elog I was home at 830. The HOS needs to be adjusted to make stupidity like that go away. Needs to be flexible if the time constraints are going to be hard.
That's what elog did to me.
Yes I'm REAL tired when I get home. Yes I hate elog.Dave_in_AZ, PoleCrusher, Oxbow and 3 others Thank this. -
One of us is confused
No. What you hate is being forced into compliance. Sounds like your problem is with the HOS rules. Focus your energy in the right places maybe we can all fight for meaningful change. Blaming elogs only serves to support their existence. -
Unfortunately the morons who invented this #### have never driven a truck and really just don't care about our welfare as drivers. Any idiot can see that I'm more tired and midnight than just carrying on and finishing my day.
So... before they brought in the ankle bracelets they should have made some provisions for just this kind of stuff .
If not, people will drive faster, take more chances to not be short that 2 hours. I did for a bit but I'm just not comfortable "driving like I stole it" so I slowed back down, lose a night at home and get home tired. Most will just keep their foot to the floor for the previous 7 days and drive like an idiot. I see it. Speeds and impatience on the roads by truck drivers is way up since they brought these things into play. It's undebatable. And unsafe. Blame HOS if you like, but the elogs unflexability made it what it is.
I'm looking for a good pre 2000 truck.Dave_in_AZ, PoleCrusher, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this.
