Really? Because I would log out every weekend and our mechanics would move the trucks around for servicing and washing and sometimes had to drive them up to Missoula for one reason or another and never once did I have an issue with my logs while I was logged out of my truck.

Are you using a "VDO Road Log Solo"? Because it seems every driver needs to insert his own USB stick into the thing. Without a USB stick, it seems to automatically put the last driver on duty unless they stay under 5 mph

I will ask my brother what he does. He has the VDO and I know he logs out for the Ag exemption with cattle.

EROAD tries to assign all noticeable movement, even from outside the shop to inside the shop and back out, ours works with one driver driving multiple units in the same day, I have driven as many as 3 in a day, and when my regular ride left for the lease company, the ELD was removed, and darned if the stupid thing didn't assume I had unhooked it, even though I logged out of it before it happened.

I'm still backing up everything on paper anyway, and still doing the other paperwork, I just file the paper logs for my own use.

BTW, every time the engine is started, you have to log in to verify you are still driving, real restful, that is. I logged in about a dozen and a half times yesterday, touchscreen my pin number, oh I just love how screwed up that mandate is, this isn't an AOBRD,like many are using, but a full fledged, drenched in bureaucratic bull crap, ELD, standalone, and not remove able from the truck.

Addressing the officer who threatened one of us, it happens, even in and especially in 'error'. Cops don't have to tell the truth, you know, but I've found many to be decent and fair. I need to get organized, moving from the short midroof to a full condo is a job and an opportunity, sure is easier to clean up when you can move around in it.

Ahhh yes the exemption for the superior drivers that never get tired pulling livestock. Funny how they never crash huh? Lives of cattle are more important than human lives that are put at risk by those exhausted drivers.

Could it be that the reason livestock haulers have an exemption is because mega companies don't haul livestock and are therefore not concerned with a level playing field? Hmmm

I don’t do it anymore so their exemption doesn’t affect my life in any way. The Ag lobby saw fit to spend money in the benefit of their best interests.
