Good. I'm heading that way right now. There nothing wrong with my truck and the company will pay me $75 for the clean inspection. I love DOT
Lepton1, CruzControhl and mustang190 Thank this. -

I remember Captain Herb saying a few years back, that the HOV lane does count as a lane. Where did you get your info?
-
I have seen posts, here and elsewhere, by drivers getting cited for lane violations on that basis. Those drivers were told that HOV or express lanes are exclusive use, and not counted as part of the main roadway regarding truck lane restrictions. I wasn't able to turn up anything like a code section, and don't have time to dig deeper at the moment. I may try contacting GA DPS or MCCS some time to ask.
To be honest, the only thing you really gain by using one more inside lane is an increased risk of traffic suddenly stopping, since there are fewer heavy trucks moderating traffic speed. More often than not, the right two lanes on Atlanta area interstates tend to be less congested and move better anyway. With obvious slow spots at interchanges of course. I've only been driving around here for 35 years, so what do I know?qbertsrevenge, Lepton1 and eek111 Thank this. -
It's possible that it changed when they went to tolling in those lanes, or it could also be that the cops giving citations don't know the law (not unusual).
I lived in Atlanta 20 years, but moved back to my hometown 9 years ago, so I'm not as up on things there anymore. That's why I asked. You're right about sticking to the right lanes, mostly. The only exception is 85 from 285 to the 316 split. It gets stupid around Jimmy Carter and Pleasant Hill, in the right lanes, especially northbound.RedForeman, stwik and bigkev1115 Thank this. -
For sure. I park my trucks about a mile off the JCB exit. Fortunately there's a half dozen ways to get in/out of here that aren't I-85.

Didnt he die in a helicopter crash there around Atlanta? It might have been one of his associates? Somebody was saying one of them did?
-
Captain Herb had stopped to assist at a car accident scene near his home. He suffered a heart attack there, then died at the hospital.Lepton1 Thanks this.
