U.S. Xpress is a very deceiving company to work for. They make everything sound sweet when you get hired on, and they have pretty good equipment, but when it comes down to making a living, you don't get what you need, MILES !! They have begun to cater to TEAM DRIVERS, and the SOLO drivers get what is left over when it comes to MILES. They are now trying to force solo drivers to TEAM, LEASE, or SAY GOODBYE to U.S. Xpress. That is just "crazy" to treat your drivers like this. Hopefully MAX will wake up one day and realize that this is not working, and how so many drivers are getting "screwed over".

Also, if you want good "home time", look elsewhere for a job, because they try to keep you as far "out of route" from home as possible to keep the freight moving, and keep you from your home time.

They have been catering to teams for years. Read some of my first posts on this site concerning USX and how the solo driver fits into their operation.

Tried to go back to US Xpress as a rehire, boy what a mistake!!!!!. They advertise that they are looking for dedicated drivers in a particular area for dedicated accounts, yet only hire new hires for these dedicated acccounts. If you ever quit US Xpress, you will not get any of these dedicated accounts. This is a fact. They will and have gone as far as to bogus a road test to keep rehires from these dedicated accounts. I've seen the reports. Unreal.........:biggrin_2554:

I tried to hire on with them but was told that others there had more experience than I did. That was a lie! I've got over 15 years experience in OTR and 9 years in local. No one at orientation had even close to what I had. Passed the physical and road test with a great report from the tester on how well I handled the truck and with backing into the hardest place to park in their lot with ease. They wasted three days of my time. Thanks US Xpress!

I feel your pain. i was a company driver for 2 years and starved to death. 1100 miles a week then comes taxes and child support. makeing my bring home pay for 2 years around 53 bucks a week. so i went as a lease operator with the company. after 8 months of the truck breaking down almost 2weeks a month i added up my totals from jan 1 09 to jun 6th 09 i grossed 47k and brought home less than 1,300 bucks. no miles no money.. once i turned in my truck going to release hopeing that i just had a bad year and this year would be better..they let me go saying that with the truck breaking downthat much they couldnt release to me.. for one the electical problems with the truck where not my fault.. and for 2 they kicked me out of my truck in the rain with everything i had (laptops)and all getting rained on..and cut off my card..took every dime i had saying i owe THEM MONEY! ..well anyways im currently looking for more work lost my house..my car..my truck..my money.. and had to hitchhike 231 miles home in the rain..with no money and no self asteam..so i hear where your comeing from. guys..US Xpresss is a joke of a company..

You guys are preaching to the choir here. Been there and done that with US. I would say if you need experience go with a big company for 6 months to a year then start looking under all the rocks you can for a real job. US on several times left me sitting in truck stop gave me a load number and said later it cancelled. Another driver told me that was so they could avoid paying me layover pay. Which I did not get in the end, so I guess he was telling the truth. I averaged less than 300 a week take home and I took whatever I could. You can live on the road for that.

Yeah, US Distress is notorous for not paying layover. Also, If you breakdown on a Sunday, you will not get breakdown pay. Company policy. As part of a team, on the coveted TJ Maxx account, my partner and I were promised 5000 miles a week. Reality saw 1200 miles a week. Who could live on that?????

Why??? Why would anyone even consider a company like U.S. Express. The only answer that I can even imagine is "desperation". And not only U.S. Express but this could apply to all the mega truck load carriers. Before I would enslave myself to some outfit such as U.S. Express, I would throw a brick thru a store window and just sit on the curb until the cops came and carried me off to jail, because at least in jail you get three meals a day, place to shower, t.v., and free health care.

Yeah, jail would allow more freedom and you would get more respect than driving for that so called company. What a joke......:biggrin_25516:
