I don't trust what other drivers tell me about the road conditions. Sorry to hurt feelings but my experience has been that everyone thinks they're Rambo on Wheels and I am the coward for shutting down at the TS. Do what management says. Why risk it?

If dot closes the road, don't worry so much about the dot fine you'll get, if you have a wreck, insurance will say what were you doing on a closed road? Then probably not pay.

If you have it on your Qualcomm or email or text or whatever your company said to park....then park, I guess. Park then call and ask why you telling me to park and dot says roads are open?

If it is open but too snowy or icy that's your trump card to park it.

Such a touchy situation- Stay parked and make no money, Or take the Risk?.
    I know,I know.....Your Bills keep coming,No Matter what.

So I ask this......Should their be a law in place that their is a set minimum a driver is to earn during a closure?-OR Should a truck driver not be in financial hardships in the first place?

Just "Deal" With it is not an answer either.

Most Americans are NOT going to leave home go to work and not be paid for their time,

Me? I just dealt with it over the years, But I was never in financial hardships to where a few days would make a difference. But Not everyone can do that.

We do get a minimal pay for being parked- but at truckstop rates it is barely covering our costs. And we have to fight for it.
It's just hard to watch other CRST trucks chugging along. It makes us wonder if this is legit or if we are experiencing yet more incompetence. I guess we'll spend this time researching other employers...

Well,Then I'd wait it out,At Least your getting something (Hopefully at least $100 per day per driver)...many drivers don't get anything.

If your company wants you to shut down then shut down asap and wait for further instructions. They may know something you dont. And if you ignore their instructions and something happens it will fall on you. Sit tight and wait it out. Get some rest.

Do it safe and legal, be in touch with your next stop with a estimate to make sure someone is there.

Is it possible what your hauling is a high value load that they would rather have you be late versus having a claim for a large sum of money if you ended up wrecked/jackknifed or something of that nature? Could be....
