$800 for his wife? So he's throwing her in with the truck? I don't know I guess that would depend on how she looks.
88228822 and Socal Xpress Thank this. -
Lmao!!!! Not too good!!! I think I should just tell him to take 10% and call it a day

I’m from Texas not New England. However I deliver all over New England. Mostly Delaware, NJ, sometimes mass and ct. I’ll do NYC/Long Island if it pays enough.

I was thinking.
I know of one specific situation in which that has happened. I almost married that girl after some courting (And a little careful time off thinking things through)
As far as being told to take care of the wife, what does that mean?
As far as the rest of the situation Im backing away from this a little bit... Im not sure what zeitgeist is in play here but be very careful to document everything. -
I read the first twenty words of the first post, and formed my answer.
Hell no.Just passing by Thanks this. -
I'm trying to figure out why his wife gets $800 a week, for that the only thing you should have to do is drive the truck.
It sounds like a pretty sketchy deal. -
Based on your first pass guesstimate of numbers, your looking at $1800.00 to $2000.00 a week in operations cost. This is also missing a lot of information. Taking that into consideration, you would need to be grossing $6000 to $7500 to the truck to cover cost of operations, your income and taxes and maybe medical coverage.
Might be a good idea to work out a real business plan before going forward. A visit to the OOIDA web site and looking at the resources pages and the planning tools they have could put a better understanding of what you might need to do. -
this is an irrational statementroshea and Socal Xpress Thank this.

Ok here's the update guys. I decided to call my friend back and renegotiate. Here's what we agreed upon. I will be getting 85% and my expenses go as follows:
Truck- $568+.07 per mile (Ryder Truck) weekly
Trailer- $75+.02 per mile (Ryder Trailer) weekly
Insurance- $350 weekly
Fuel- $1250 weekly
His wife does all accounting and IFTA, Settlements, Factoring etc..
I pick my own freight. No dispatcher. I think that's a good deal because that's what you would get if you signed on to anyone else. You guys agree?
