    Hello everyone!

I joined this forum to seek information on a possible career change and will hopefully gain more insight as to what direction I should go, at least.

I am 50 years old and don't care for my current profession and I'm looking to drive either on a local route level, or even OTR. Our kids are grown now and it's time to make some moves if I plan to do this career change.

Anyway, nice to be here and I look forward to discussing things!

    Trucking is a great career.
Make about $1500 a week working for Transport National in Cincinnati. This company hires new cdl grads; call the company and have a chat. www.tntrans.com

Carter Express has a facility in Dayton. www.carter-express.com
Carter Express offers a unique CDL truck driver training program to help qualified applicants earn their CDL. We partner with certified schools and can sponsor our students/trainees. This includes covering 100% of the tuition costs or offering a tuition reimbursement program. Once our trainees have secured their CDL, Carter Express has a six-week paid training program to prepare our trainees for their new career.

I'm not recommending any company but I will tell you Millis Transfer hires and trains students and controls the shipping for Miller Beer in Trenton.

From reading in the tanker subforum, I'm under the impression there are a couple of tank washes in Cincinnati so pulling a tank may be an option for you.

There are some steel mills or other places that ships steel up in Middletown (I-75 exit 29), so there is opportunity for you if you want to pull a flatbed.

Thank you. Yep, I live right near that area actually. The main thing is how to get trained, the costs involved and how I could even do this working full-time, or if I would have to quit my current gig and just deal with it. These are some of my questions but I have started another post on this no worries!

Yes sir, I gave a quick rundown on the types of trailers you might pull as a newbie on your linked thread. By the way, good idea to link to that.

If Iou live in Ohio check out this trucking company. They call OTR going about 650 miles out of Ohio. They have shorter run even and even 4 days on 4 days off of of you slip seat a truck. No notheast lots of drop and hook. They basically run the same 60 or so customers. They even train new driver now.

Hey, really appreciate this! As long as I am not gone all week, or weeks at a time the wife might allow me to do something like this. LOL! I've been an 8-5, Mon-Fri my entire life so the adjustment may be a tad difficult for the woman at first but after all, it's me that brings home the bacon right?

I'd like to add that I earn around 50k per year in my profession so I know a pay decrease would probably occur but I can deal with that hopefully if it were just for a year or so. If I could earn roughly the same, or even more I would be good obviously.
