What's a better fuel card EFS or NASTC?

One of the reps from XPO set me up this morning. He sent me a map with today's prices and I was very surprised by the nice discounts they offer at the TA(s) on my lane. As good as Landstar(s) SavingsPlus, the only difference is that you have various options for the card. Personal credit, Business credit, Prepaid or funded by ACH withdraw.

There is a $50 EFS set up fee and a $1.25 swipe fee and that's it. Love's discount was only $0.05 a gallon discount off cash price. The TA discount was $0.73 in Coburg, OR & $0.82 in Corning, CA & $1.11 at Seattle East location.

Those are some pretty good discounts!

As a follow-up, I did talk to a Reliant Transportation rep, he was a nice guy. However, their discounts were not as steep. A difference of about $0.25 a gallon more from what I could ascertain.

 

Good deal, that sounds like a plan. I have to get with him tomorrow or Friday myself.

 

Just so you know, when shopping for fuel across statelines, the recommendation is to compare fuel stops without the IFTA fuel tax. The states of IN, KY, and VA have an additional fuel tax that is non-IFTA. That tax you leave on the fuel price when comparing fuel prices. NASTC’s app provides both fuel prices (with IFTA tax and without) to make it easier to compare “actual” fuel prices.

By the way, I am pleased to know that NASTC has pretty much the same fuel discounts you posted from XPO.

I'm not sure how all this works yet but I just signed up for fleet one which appears to be EFS and or WEX?
I paid $75 set up fee and don't pay a swipe fee.

Ooops No not through XPO. I'm a single O/O with my authority. Told you I was still new to fuel cards.

 

You don't have to be leased on to their authority to utilize their fuel program. I'm an independent with my own authority.

 

So you have XPO as your broker? Are there any requirements XPO is imposing to be in their fuel program other than to continue having them as your broker? Any amount of loads per month or year you need to pull to have their fuel card? Uber Freight has a fuel card that looks like a pretty decent deal, but we all know their freight sucks.
