Good old Angel Overdrive.I would always pick a gear going up that kept the motor in the sweet spot till I got to the top,it was never a problem to back out of it and let someone that's in more of a hurry then me to go on by. You can't make time on a hill.If your empty or light have at it, if you're fully loaded you're just wasting time and fuel.

If I was to ever pass, I'd make sure that no heavy traffic in the left lane. I have had people go 60 MPH, I could go 66 and every time I'd try to pass, they'd speed up. I just want to go as fast as I can and that's it. Not about the games, pissing people off or holding up traffic. We all have somewhere to get to but I'm told that I should brake, go slower and let people pass me but now I am going slower because of the ####### who passed me going the same exact speed or .5 MPH faster. Honestly if they are going to govern trucks, make them all the same across the board but then again when I was with Prime, they pushed that going 55 MPH was the best thing and they even had a video of a guy saying he goes 50 MPH. I went off topic, my bad!

I live in a relatively calm area We had a batch of trucks roll by without hardly any trouble. They were not really noteworthy because they were nice steady and rolling perfectly as far as I am concerned. I did notice Walmart trucks using Lo PRos on steers which tips the tractors down about a inch up front. I have a problem with that because those are the two most important tires any position. Nothing but the best and strongest regardless of cost.

We do have a few locals capable of passing at 80+ That's fine, frankly it is not us who are worried about it. State speed limit is 75 by law but not yet until the signs for it go up, and there you see how the State will drag it's heels upgrading to 75 and 65 on rural roads where it was either 45 or 55 previously.

Ironically it's the fuel rigs that roll fast. You would think they have all day to get the fuel into the facility in several loads like the bulks do.

In response to one poster about upgrades. Mr Pyrometer decides how we are doing well or not. As long she pulls around 1250 steady in a gear that has it in the sweet spot with options for either a upshift or downshift All is well with the world. We will get there when we get there.

You would think with the big horse engines we cruise upgrade at speed limit. But no Emissions castrated them further. Any problems with modern engines are traced to emissions systems in the back of that truck. (Note I say any. Meaning not necessarily having one today.)

If we as truck drivers make the claim of being professional then yeah i'd be in your best interests to slow up a wee bit just let them pass why analyse why there trying to do it? Why wait until there's 50 vehicles all lined up in the left hand lane to figure out how dangerous this could turn out? We often see questions being asked about who is the best school to go to, so that they can learn how to drive, however no one ever talks about defensive driver training, just going by some of the comments I've read in here there are quite a few who could benefit from a defensive driving course. Lets try and keep our roads safe and as professionals set an example.

If I can’t pass someone , I’ll just stay there in the hammer lane next to him.. Eventually the other driver feels enough embarrassment for me and drops his speed. I win!

I thought that was you yesterday...
Governed trucks need to have the double throttle pump passing gear.

That's a high-dollar mistake in Illinois. They're broke & need revenue, and all y'all slow trucks blocking the passing lane are easy pickin's. Law was passed 2 years ago, and they're stepping up enforcement this year.

"Drivers who are traveling below the speed limit in the left lane can be fined up to $120."

Slow drivers, stay out of the left lane

I used to keep my foot in it and be a dick, and used to be the snail passing dick that provoked the slower truck to be a dick in return

    Then experience taught me better

I'll still speed up a bit if we're about to pull a hill and I know the guy passing me is doesn't have the jam to keep pulling after he comes over though.
