Someone help me understand how on earth a truck that does roughly 2,500 miles a week for a period of 6 months acquires of $4,000 in IFTA tax? This is what Penske is claiming that I owe, so I am giving them 4 moths of receipts for fuel. Funny how they want to bring this to my attention when I am returning their truck.
Penske says I owe $4,000 in IFTA fees?

If your telling us the truth here, its NOT $4,000 in iFTA, More like $400 in IFTA.
Obviously a Mistake,
But with the Internet- People will say the darndest things.........
$4,000 in ifta in a 6 month period,youd need about 10 trucks. Cmon here....rabbiporkchop, bzinger, jbgrim72 and 6 others Thank this. -
Where did you run? Where did you buy fuel? Did you shine on reporting your mileage so it defaults to a flat sum?
speedyk, rabbiporkchop, KB3MMX and 3 others Thank this. -
48 states is what I told him I will run. Estimated the miles avg at 2,500. They told me nothing about reporting milage. They are conveniently telling me now. I have all my fuel receipts. Reporting IFTA per our fuel milage and receipts is no where near 4,000 in tax for less than 2,500 miles per week for 6 months. Correct?
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Penske must have read your post about rebuilding and renting out old trucks.
They realized you’re an easy target. -
Right, so why is the Penske employee trying to tell me this? I asked him politely do you think I am an idiot? He said no he doesn't think I am an idiot. So ... I'm giving him 6 months of fuel receipts. Go from there.... I guess.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Right, So its obvious then- Pay your taxes on what you have run- Simple as that- They Continue to give you grief-Which they wont- Get your attorney to call them- Then they'll play nice.
Of Course, If your being 100% honest with us.
Pretty cut and dry here.D.Tibbitt, Rideandrepair and DieselDrivinDaddy Thank this. -
On a serious note, you’re leaving out the two pertinent details that we need to answer your question.
1: What state(s) are you running your miles in?
2: What state(s) are you purchasing fuel in?
No one can help you without that information.roshea, rabbiporkchop, bzinger and 3 others Thank this. -
I don't believe that info would add up to that much. What would is is he fueling at Penske? If so, I don't think they charge ifta on purchases. Owing tax on every purchase would add up to close to $4,000 in 6 month period.KB3MMX, Studebaker Hawk, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this.

I agree that I don’t think it could add up to that much.
However, no one can help find what the real cost is without those numbers as well as any hidden costs associated with letting someone else file your IFTA. They could be charging a rediculous rate just for that service.roshea, deathB4decaf, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this.
