All of you are missing the point. He cares nothing about safety or saving the lives of drivers or the motoring public. Everything he wants to do will provide a capacity crunch. Lengthen the time it will take to perform a load, drive older drivers out of the industry, make it harder for new entrants and mediocre carriers by raising insurance rates, scare all the druggies out. BOOM epic capacity crunch sky rocketing profits for those who are left. That’s really what he is saying!

Maybe but I have no issue drug testing and increasing the types and sensitivity of testing.

The rest may be valid complaint but since their defined purpose is to promote their companies is that a shock?

    Humblepie Thanks this.

I mentioned insurance. Explain to me how raising my insurance premium is going to make me safer again?

It is not. It will ensure adequate funds for financial responsibility in case your are at fault in an accident.

Everybody was all for increasing broker bonds, this is along those lines for the trucking side.

    laaylor Thanks this.

They would be required to hold the higher bonds just like smaller carriers would have to have higher policies.

I can see the need considering an accident now can move into 100k in just vehicle losses with only a couple cars damaged. Hospital bills can hit 6 or seven figures in a week.
