Anyone else catch this release

And this has anything to do with raising and shipping cattle how? We've got a tractor, blade, and all that, doesn't make us farmers or cattlemen. I know a guy who I dont believe has ever shot or gut a deer and he's got a feedlot with about 500 head or so.

 

I’m off tommorow so I’ll go to the local butcher shop and buy some HOS compliant pork and beef.
It was raised, killed, cut up and sold locally.

Do none of you hear they're saying they might deliver that load then sit around for a while. In what world does it make sense for a team to do that 13 hour drive then have nothing to do for 3 days then a 1200 mile run comes up. Way different than typical freight.

Yes they could put team in all the trucks. You'd have to pay them even when they're sitting around. If it was as simple as putting a team in then run from one load to the next they'd already be doing it and this whole conversation wouldn't even be happening. I don't want people to do stupid things that cause pain and suffering. I also don't want to drive up the cost of food if indeed they are forced into team operation all the time. So we are trying to compromise. Now that we have elogs it brings everything to light and right here is proof one set of rules does not fit every sector of trucking. Also goes to show there's something to be said for an intelligent driver knowing his body and the tasks at hand and plan his working and resting on his own. Rather then determining if a driver is rested or not based on when the truck was moving or wasn't which is all the elog does.

 

But the one driver posted he drove 4 to 5 thousand miles each week by himself.
So a team wouldn’t be sitting that much........

 

And if you read what I tried to explain to you after that you’d see that a team wouldn’t work. Yes, I had 4-5000 mile weeks, but also said that my last year I did around 150k for the year. But clearly you have it all figured out with your vast livestock hauling experience.

If you had experience with it and said hey maybe it would work to do it this way, we’ll that would be one thing. But your ignorance on the topic is showing because you’re acting like it’s general freight that moves at the same consistency all year.

But but, he owns a tractor and a disc and a mower, AND he's gutted a couple deer, he knows all there is to know about farming and shipping crops and livestock. He should go haul livestock for a year or two, see what it's actually like.

 

These posts brought up a memory I had .....I saw cattle prods sold at Tduckstops once upon a time.......but no more.....yall still use 'em I assume , you just gotta get them from a different source......?
