What happens if a driver based in Nevada drives a CMV powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 60 pre-EGR with no DPF in interstate commerce through a CARB NOx Exempt Area en route to Oregon or some other state, without stopping or doing any business in California, assuming this driver complies with all federal regulations?

    I did read: https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onrdiesel/documents/fsnoxexempt.pdf

Are you branching out? We thought you were running from Reno to Phoenix with your bus.

I could be wrong but if I read that right. It says must have pm filter.

To me that sounds like the entire state requires a dpf.

I am, but I'm looking at all options to keep myself informed.

Yeah, but what happens if I don't have a DPF? What are they going to do to me if I have a Nevada plate, engaging in interstate commerce, and not doing any business in California, just passing through a NOx exempt area with no weigh stations?

For example, a CETME with a 20-round magazine is banned in California, but if you're transporting through California without stopping, you're OK as long as it's unloaded in a locked case on your vehicle.

Yep, though that won't be too difficult since I got down to it except for not filing insurance before the deadline. I have no safety issues.

Simple, you get a ticket if you get caught at a CARB checkpoint.

What is a CARB checkpoint? Are they just weigh stations? What if you don't pay it?

If you’re thinking about driving through California in a commercial vehicle I suggest googling California Air Resource Board Truck and Bus regulations. It’s all spelled out pretty clearly.
