    Hello everyone,

We have been operating for a couple years now, always with used Freightliner trucks, after the most recent truck bought from dealership for 80k which turned out had an overheated engine and had to have an overhaul after 70k miles we are thinking about buying new this time.

Anyone have any positive experiences with new trucks? Basically we want this thing to have as little down time and maintenance costs as possible, but don't we all...

I have bought new and used, and they both will have issues. Buy the best warranty available. Find out the service and after sale sale rating for the dealerships and sales people you're considering. Maintenance cost are neccessary evil. Repairs is what you want to avoid, follow the maintenance schedule.

How heavy will you run at?
What are the best dealers in your area?

Keep up on the emission system maintenance if you go new. Too many people don't realize that the emission systems are not maintenance free. They require regular servicing just like everything else. Proper maintenance will reduce the number of issues but the systems are still not 100% trouble free.

I’ve had good luck with the new KW T680’s with the X15 Cummins and endurant 12 speed auto trans. My 2018 has 125k miles and zero shop time. My 2019 has 20k miles and no shop time. So still early on with both but been great so far. Enough so I have 2 2020’s in order. Getting around 7.35 mpg with 25% idle. 2.79 rears.

    Hope that helps.

If you do buy used get a 2nd owner truck with Cummins and buy the Encore 2 warranty for $4500. 2 yr 200k. I’m new from here on out but had my fair share of used coming up in the past.

New or used you're basically blind fold putting your hand in a box full of razor blades hoping you can extract your keys without getting cut.
Just take care of your vehicle. Don't fall into the mindset of "It's new it can go a little longer" or "that shouldn't happen it's a new truck" be prepared for anything to fail. I've seen used trucks go a year or two without minimal down time and had several new trucks come off the line and break down on the first load. Everything is built to break. :(

We bought a new Volvo 780 a year ago and no major issues with 109000 on it. Nice riding and quiet.

I've read before that you team. I team also and we're considering the O/O route. What's your gameplan on switching trucks? Run it to the ground with a 1million plus? Or trade them up sooner? Since teaming can potentially add 200k+ miles a year?

Not sure if to buy used or new...

New T680, one temp sensor went out in front of the DPF and we were down (scheduled) for two days because they had to ship in the sensor. Other than that, fabulous, and have picked up a full 1.5 mpg.

Have found out, however, that these new tires still go flat when you put a screw through them....
