Yup, you are right you should just give up! Nothing good is easy and nothing easy is good.

What about working part time in the dock to driver program and part time elsewhere? You do realize you will be out of work without income or a severely reduced income for 4-6 weeks during most CDL training programs as they usually are all day/week long events. Even if you went with company sponsored training at a mega carrier, they barely pay you enough to eat while in training, so you need to have money saved up for bills and such before ever even starting classes.

 

Try Mister P in Jeffersonville,IN.I talked to them the other day they have their own school and will test you out in a manual transmission.

 

This thread doesn't make sense; throw away a very lucrative career because you only want a certain type transmission?

 

Pick up two shifts a week at Wal-Mart or mcdonalds. In one year you will have your tuition money.

Or just get the cdl with the restriction, bank some cash, make some connections, and finding a truck to test out in will be child's play.

Or continue to screw yourself.

 

FFE trains with a standard and the school is free if you drive 1 year with them.

Most of their fleet is automatic, but you wont have the restriction.

I would just start driving and worry about the transmission later.

 

If it is a dream, well bye bye dream but if you want to actually be a professional and get on the road, lose the attitude ... seriously ... get your CDL any which way you can, even if you go with a mega and then when you get a chance, get the automatic restriction removed.

I keep hearing this all over the place and it gets tiring, they want them to have someone hand them a CDL because they have a dream and many times - maybe NOT in this case - the dream is really a need to get any job to pay the bills.

 

Save your cash and do it how you want.
