Is he interested in going to the Freight side? Union job with much better benefits and pay.

Not sure. I'm hoping for some feedback from JB HUNT drivers to get an idea of what it's like to work for them.

Uhhh...maybe I'm a union homer, but if you have the opportunity to work for UPS Freight LTL (which I think you initially said he works for, but then said he isn't in the union, which doesn't make sense), that's easily his best choice. Maybe SOMEHOW he could make a bit more money with JB (I don't see how), but you have to look at the overall pay and benefits package. Company-paid insurance AND a pension? I mean come on now.

I know a lot of the guys around here are anti-union, but I think most of them think it's still the Civil War and they're fighting "The Union." Totally different things, guys. ;)

You misunderstood me. He does work for UPS FREIGHT, LTL. They are non union. And none of the benefits of the union side which is UPS FREIGHT. The FREIGHT, LTL drivers voted for the union but UPS has been fighting against it in court for a couple of years now. So the union has not become a reality for them. UPS FREIGHT and UPS FREIGHT, LTL are different parts of the company.

So I'm confused. I'll research it, but my understanding is that UPS Freight is an LTL company. I don't doubt what you're saying, given that UPS has so many different companies. But I'm just not sure which company you're talking about.

I know that UPS Truckload, for instance, is non-union.

That's what I thought as well, but she keeps saying LTL.

This isn't a rookie or outsider thing.. I've seen veterans call line-haul LTL because it was hourly.. Never understood this

I worked at YRC years before I even got my CDL and seen it all the time..

Well LTL HAS a linehaul side. What we're really referring to in truckload and less-than-load is what's in the trailer.
