I often open my mouth before I think. But sometimes I actually know what I’m taking about. Here’s the landing fee charged to private jet owners. This doesn’t include any other fees such as parking, ground transportation, or fuel.
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
What if you're poor and don't have a radio or a transponder in your airplane?

As far as using airport facilities for free...better check some of the major international and metro airports for their landing fee prices. Some of them are pretty steep. -
All modes of transport receive some or lots of subsidies from local, state and federal governments. It depends on a lot of factors, how noisy is the representative representing that constituency, how hyperactive(generous) is the "trade association" for the mode in question etc. All of them have been the target of excessive taxes and costs also. None of it will ever balance out.

I guess we have our answer.

I was shocked the first time I heard about that sort of thing going on.otterinthewater Thanks this. -
I rolled into a terminal at the megacarrier I worked for. I was told "You can't park here. There's no room" and to go find a spot in INDIANAPOLIS at 2300. Couldn't even drop the trailer. I ran into a DAYCAB driver a little later at a closeby FULL truck stop who was told the same thing. If I was him, I would have pulled into the terminal and turned the keys into the shop. Of course, no reputable local company would do that to you.

I flew my Beechcraft Musketeer into Las Vegas and dined at the Hard Rock Cafe then flew out no landing fee whatsoever, for a whole year I flew all over the west there was never a landing fee nor parking fee. I personally talked to a private airstrip owner who said he got federal money to maintain his airstrip. If one takes a closer look at this there is a lot of government cheese being enjoyed by the rich.

You must have a radio and transponder in your plane, your transponder is unique like a licence plate so air traffic control can identify you. The only major airport I flew into was Las Vegas International, there was no landing fee but my plane was not a jet
I flew into many other municipal airports and private airstrips (with permission to land of course) no landing fee ever, the only thing is they get on the radio and ask if I need to buy fuel sometime I do and sometimes I don't.

You really should check your info before posting it. Also you don't have to be rich to own an airplane.

Please enlighten me with your knowledge, what did I post that's inaccurate? Do you have anything insightful to add?
