Their newest trucks like the 18 and 19 models have APUs on them now as well as a factory refrigerator

They have to tell you that ####. In the real world you get a bluetooth receiver that plugs in the the radio via 3.5mm jack and connect your phone to that. You don't have to touch your phone after that.

I actually have my own truck radio that takes less than a minute to swap out with the stock Freightliner radios. It's the same radio that comes standard in Kenworths. I pop it in when my road time starts and take it out when I know I'm changing trucks. It has Bluetooth, hands Free phone, and XM built in. I go through 90 hours of audiobooks a week.

Having earbuds in your ear is illegal bordering on immoral. You won't hear when a train comes, you won't hear other people honking at you because you're about to kill them, you won't hear when a trailer tire blows and you end up in a ditch. Headsets made for truckers are different because they only take up one ear for the duration of a call. They shouldn't be used for entertainment. You'll be fired if anyone sees you with it on but I don't see a problem when they're used as intended. Schneider knows when you're moving and they'll call you just to see if you'll answer.

You can idle when you want. You'll just lose bonus money if you do it more than about 5 hours a night. This is basically standard for all the megas. The trucks automatically shut down after 5 minutes unless it actually cold or hot outside. Your MPG bonus standards factor in idling and they loosen the standards in Summer and Winter because they know you'll be idling. I can idle as much as I need and still make the MPG bonus. Also, a few states will give you a ticket for idling at all no matter what your company says you can do.

Screw the bluetooth policy.. No idling for AC sounds like you're working for a mobile sweat shop

Hopefully when Schneider gets rid of Lofgren in April, some of these silly ideas will go as well

some of the new trucks do not have apu and fridge, some do

seems to be luck of the draw on what truck one gets

also how can you "idle when you want" when the trucks won't idle?

Okay, let me tell you how smart that recruiter is. NO Bluetooth device at all. Is this what you thought you heard, or what was actually said? Because EVERY Schneider driver has a Bluetooth device, all of them.

    It’s called a phone.

When I drove there, the safety guy out of the north salt lake terminal would look for trucks that were rolling and then try and call the guys to see if they would answer the phone while driving. It was so petty and asinine

    Maverick Griff Thanks this.
