Yeah, he got defensive & offended because he's trying to shame you into a bad deal.
Not enough hours to do 2 turns @ 320 mi, especially with load & unload times, break(s) & maybe fuel.
How does this sound?

Who is he?
Your authority but you are 1099?
1.87 all inclusive? -
150 is plenty. 200 would be a dream. But 300+ and dead or disabled? I think not.
That is why I take Yakima to Boston Produce for 6 days to deliver rather than LTL stops for every morning delivery at sunrise and reloading early PM. Too much work for less money depending. (Excluding food service, they paid salary to me on that)
I take time off now and then. 1.87 is not too shabby if your truck is breaking even at maybe 1.20 or cheaper for your entire overhead.CorsairFanboy Thanks this. -
He gets loads from a Valero ethonal plant. He told me the rate is per weight ant the fuel surcharge is calculated in.
Shouldn't all owner operators with authority be 1099?
I think the worst part of the deal is he told me it was a schedule. Telling me when I could come home. If I have my own authority and truck I'm pulling loads when I want. That's even one of the requirements for a 1099 employee. Makes own schedule. -
Well yes....and no....
Sounds like the plant works to a schedule....
He is offering you a placement on the contract he has scored....until he does not need you... -
My truck, my authority it's gonna be my schedule or he can find someone else. But that's just me.
Lite bug and Rubber duck kw Thank this. -
There is a list of what constitutes a proper 1099. A schedule is simply one item on the list. Equipment ownership, who pays drivers wages and bennies, and such count also.
Basically they are one company contracting to another.
Here is the irs link for what they look for. Independent Contractor Self Employed or Employee | Internal Revenue Service -
Zvar I read into this that they are an owner with an authority and whom ever "he" is is offering loads to the op. So a 1099 may be ok but it isn't clear.

Ethanol plant?
So are you hauling corn in?
Or by product out? (DDG)
Lines can be the get in your way thing there. Sometimes not much traffic, others 10 or 12 hour waits.
You never mentioned his trailer or yours but 1.88 to mess with an ethanol plant would not get me out bed in the morning. God #### race to the bottom and most cant wait to get there. Sad thing is they dont know they are on their way. They are just happy to be gointommymonza and snowman_w900 Thank this. -
His tanker and he said the truck would need a pto.
