I'm currently working an hourly home every night tanker job and may have the option to do some out and back runs with an overnight stay. If I understand correctly the company will pay for a hotel room and my normal pay rate for time worked but nothing extra for being out of town.
Does this sound reasonable? Am I expecting too much thinking I should get something extra?
Not sure how I feel about doing this in a daycab but am not keen on getting a sleeper and sleeping at truck stops again either.
Local hourly driver question.

Sounds reasonable.
Good luckMartinFromBC Thanks this. -
They're paying $60 or more for a hotel room (where you can shower) in lieu of paying about $35 per diem and having you sleep in the truck. Sounds like you're coming out ahead.

I am currently in the same boat. Hourly and in a day cab. I go overnight pulling fuel and chemicals. I enjoy sleeping in a hotel. Bed,shower, tv. And no idiling engine!! You just need to plan a little closer for motels with truck parking.

same here. OTR in a daycab. We get $20 meal money a night. It's not a ton but its something. I make much better money staying out on the road with the longer hours than I did when I was home daily. If it's the same way for you, then I dont think I would worry about the 20 bucks or so. You should more than make up for it.

Extra for what?

This, this, and more this. It can be pretty tough finding a hotel that you can get into and more importantly get out of in the morning. Unless I'm super desperate, I dont even bother with hotels that don't have a wraparound parking lot or obviously better yet, a dedicated truck lot.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

They probably already have assigned or specific hotels for you to stay at with truck parking

I've heard of this setup before. You have to decide is it reasonable for you. You can look for a tanker job that pays extra for nights away from home, plus pay for the hotel.Romeoecho and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.

like per diem or just extra for being away. Not sure what is standard
I do believe there are some hotels other drivers have used. Apparently they put us up in decent hotels at least.
