I put this in the original thread but figured I would put it all in a new one for easy access in case it can help anyone.
I know this post is growing old but I have found what I believe to be the ultimate solution to the LT antenna problem.

Ready? I wont reveal my exact solution because then you would just jump to that...and each setup is different...but I will gladly help my brother truckers fix this problem by giving you the prototype I used for my testing.
But first the results of this prototype...not only will it smoke the stock behind the sleeper setup...itsmoked...and I mean smoked...every dual mirror setup...factory or custom mounted...i habe everused...i know its crazy right? Trust me...and its cheap too...
after beating my brains out trying to figure some kind of custom mount...in exasperation...i went to the loves...bought the roadpro mag mount put one of my wilson 2k's on it with a 3 inch shaft...
I mounted this directly above my driver side interior visor on the roof of the cab (lt/prostar sleepers do not extend to the windshield) this capacitive grounds theantenna to the cab of the truck...the magnet is one plate of the capacitor...the metal roof the other so your groumd is covered automatically...but the verybest part is that now you have at least some metal directly under the antenna...instead of the base of the ant sitting out over the earth...
This setup ran 80mph without failure AND received bone stock FCC legal setups at 20 miles and easilytalked 15 on legal power...qnd tunes just fine.
My final is slightly different and is tuned to thespecifics of my truck and how it is optioned so start here...and kick some ###...if you want to go further experiment with coil height (whip cutt8ng needed) and the higber the coil or %he thicker and stiffer thewhip the bigger the magnet will need to be...just mak3 sure the mag as a 3/8-24 mount.
Enjoy! 73's -
Oh yeah my results where in #### conditions and my final setup doubles those range numbers so experiment...bere are 2 tips...the bigger the diameter of the mag the more efficiently it will work...2 the higher the coil...ditto...go experiment and have some fun!

That 21-534 Radio Shack meter is a good one. Surprisingly, it is almost as accurate as some Bird 43 meters, it’s always close. I have one here at the house.
