Walmart here I come 2.0

Are you making enough money? Is it really low stress? How's your schedule?

 

The farthest I’ve gone was northern Michigan; and western PA... south of Nashville and over to the DC in St. James, Mo... but, usually not much farther than Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky...

 

I do 5 on 2 off...Not stressful at all... I do make good $$$ but, as a dedicated contracted Driver, I make about 20% less than the Fleet Drivers

 

You can make that as a Fleet Driver; you just need to be really careful...

It’s too early to tell...just wrapped up my first full week out with a mentor, and we spent A LOT of time on UT(unscheduled downtime) due to waiting for vendors to come out and clean the snow off of our trailers and different stops. Still had a couple of $300+ days. I’m going to be on a 6/3 schedule right out of the gate when I start. I wouldn’t call it low stress TBH, but I am a very high strung person and there is a lot to take in and learn, but the stress is coming from learning the system, not from Walmart directly. Also learning to adjust my driving to Walmart’s equipment and way of doing things. If you are used to trucks that pull well, you’ll have some getting used to. They also have them specd/ tuned to pull down very low...I came from a truck with an ISX that pulled very well and up to about 16-1700 rpm for heavy loads/hills. These fall flat on there face at around 14-1500. Not the worst thing in the world, just an adjustment is all. Most people are willing to vend over backwards to help you. Just take your time and you’ll be good!

The amount of money you make here is completely in your own hands. They will run you as hard as you want to run. Keep your ETD's tight and up to date, you can run the wheels off the truck. Don't want to do a whole lot, push your ETD out. Unlike most trucking companies, you control how much money you make for the most part.
