I strongly considered Austin, TX and Las Vegas, NV from the east coast and finally settled Las Vegas/Henderson. No regrets at all. I can visit the family or call or send postcards. Looking at the horrible weather back east and northwest, is even more assuring I made the right decision.
High of 67 degress with sunny sky today!

Gotta move out of Maine. Unless you’re a lobster.

I'm from upstate NY (close to the Syracuse/Buffalo area) originally, moved to Phoenix AZ in 2012 and I absolutely love it here! I can certainly understand you considering moving out of Maine, I spent a summer there and it was great but that area of the country is too cold. I have been considering moving to the east TX area but I love it here in AZ too much. The south west is a great place, if/when you do leave home.
Rideandrepair and Chinatown Thank this. -
Since I've begun working in Houston, I've learned that wages here are lower than some other areas of the country.

I used to do night linehaul for Land-Air of New England. They have a terminal in Scarborough, ME. Just sayin'.
Right across the street was a R.C. Moore terminal. They had pretty nice looking equipment.
I think there's a Shaw's DC there, too.
Of course, if you're up in Caribou or Augusta, that really ain't gonna help. Only pickup I ever made up in ME was a load of "that water". I was a trainee, and we just dropped in off at some terminal near Gettysburg, PA, IIRC.
Beautiful state, but work is hard to come by. I tried to relocate there once. Good luck. -
I lived in Phoenix for 5 years, then had a brain fart and moved back to Pennsylvania. Met my wife here shortly afterward (18 years ago) and she won't leave, so now I'm stuck unless I divorce her...Sirscrapntruckalot, Chinatown and Rideandrepair Thank this.

There is a smaller town to the north west, near the valley of fire I believe, not too sure. But anyway. It was quiet. We had lunch at a McD's there downtown. The People were just great. None of that east coast stressing or the california valley spacing out.
If I was to return there I would think that place would just be small and quiet with vegas about a hour or so down the road if necessary. The weather will take care of itself. However... a little sentance or two of backstory, TB was the scourage of Baltimore City growing up in Maryland, Ive been tested for it so many times combined with Chest xrays that most recently was taken a year ago. If it ever shows up I know where I have to go. Hopefully that dry air will provide some relief then.
I probably had it anyway being in Nevada so much in trucking later in my time out there. The air was fantastic. If that makes any sense at all. Even though I miss that Atlantic Breeze.Chinatown and Rideandrepair Thank this.
