Fedex Freight, I recommend them even if you are a newer driver.

Oh i did disclose it, i am not about to go lying on an application, i know thats far worse than getting a no. Im not too worried about it all the sudden, i just got a call back for a phone interview with another company I applied to. I will definitely follow up with fxf, and every company for that matter. Living in illinois, there is not much good going on here, and plan on moving in the near future.

To each his own. For those of you who seem to enjoy it, congrats. But that day could come where things may not look so great. Especially in the West.
I left in 2013 after 18 years. I was a City coach and RTO (Road Test Observer), and number 9 on a list of approximately 75 drivers, and one of their top rated drivers, performance wise. I got tired of the politics and the spirit-crushing that eventually became commonplace. The year after I left my terminal, they lost an additional 75 people, give or take. If you drive past the yard now, they have had a “hiring drivers” hung on the fence pretty much permanently for the last few years because nobody sticks around.
Admittedly, they do pay well, and have fairly decent benefits, but sometimes it’s about more than that.

 

No wonder there's a drivers shortage....

What's it going to take for companies to learn to treat drivers with respect and professionalism ?

 

Unfortunately, politics happens. It can be far worse at big yards than small ones.

As for what they pay, I'm making close to $27.50 with OT after 8.

 

Another thing you have to consider..Fedex pays on a different scale dependent on where you are as far as cost of living wage. But it all works out to the same evenly across the board. Case in point, when me and my father were there we made mid 50's in mileage pay, and a terminal 3 hrs up the road made 3 more cent a mile than us for doing the same work. They argued it was a difference in areas. My argument was its not my fault they chose to live in a high wage area what's fair is fair. Hard to swallow working on a sub zero dock freezing your buns off knowing the man next to you is making more $$$ for same amount of work all because in where he lives. Decent job but it was too many politics as said and the $$ didn't outweigh the b.s.
