To be perfectly honest I screwed up and didn’t pretreat before loading the slate rock. That’s definitely on me. Usually after a wash I immediately get the bed in the air then spray with rv antifreeze unless loading breeze coke then I just dump salt in the bed. So far rock or slate has been the only thing that has ever stuck in my bed. I will be treating every load from now on also glad to see a new face in the room. Don’t think I’ve seen your carrier anywhere are you the only one?

Winterizing the trailer bed is definitely more of a hassle in the winter time, but less than an hour ago I saw the effects of not doing so. Got rid of my load and everything fell right out of the bed, however there was two O/O’s here that didn’t fair so well. More than half of their loads were frozen to the trailer. They are chipping them out as I write this. Oh yeah, windchill here is -38 currently

Only time I wash out is if I haul something like scrap and then have to grab a load of some type of feed ingredient (cottonseed, organic corn, various types of “meal”, etc.)

I run for a small company, somewhere around 25 company drivers and at least that many O/O. We mainly run NE, SE, and Midwest, pretty much anything east of I-35. They keep me busy, always have a preplan and never wait for my next load. Good company.

We haul a lot of baseball dirt, golf course sand, and silica sand and occasionally fertilizer which require a clean trailer. Your company sounds about the same size as the one I’m leased too but not near as many o/o’s. The scrap loads we do are to get us to one of our regular loads. I just found out the other day the great Oakley got our coke contract so coke loads should be few and far between one less thing to wash out

I sure as heck don’t want to haul it, Walter and Erie isn’t that bad for coke, green coke pretty good to haul also.. abc couldn’t pay enough to ever get my truck in there again.. To be completely honest tho I’d rather take my chances at the scrap yard than haul coke any day..
