Hey guys! I got my CLP about two weeks ago and have been browsing around reddit, TT and here to figure out which is the best company to go with for company sponsored CDL training in California since this is where I have my CLP.
When I say best I am talking about which company has a good training program and pays good money upon completion of training. I am not too much concerned with how much home time I get, I’m sure I can take it whenever I need. What’s most important to me is miles and pay.

What are the cpm for the company you suggest?
Do they put you up in a hotel or do you have to provide your own lodging during training?
Are their trucks automatic? (Not that i have an issue driving manual).
Do their trucks have APU’s?
How long are you typically out?
How much can I expect to make as a new driver?
Do they have a tanker, intermodal, flatbed, reefer etc. unit?
Anything I haven’t asked that you can give some insight on will be greatly appreciated.
Got my CLP now looking for comp. sponsored CDL program.

IF you have a FULL CDL A or B and friend only has a CDL A or B Permit. We can get you into a straight truck with sleeper that you can train with and become a full team! You take the truck home!visionarygvp Thanks this. -
Unfortunately I don’t have anyone I could team up with at this moment. Any other suggestions for single drivers?

after those, there's Swift and CRSTvisionarygvp Thanks this. -
I would suggest looking into an ltl carrier. But if you are set on OTR, than yes, prime inc is a decent starter company. I went thru them about 2 years ago. I was making .16 or $700 a week (whichever was greater), trained for like 3 months. Made about 35k during my year with them and then bounced! Truthfully prime is probably one of the better starter companies.visionarygvp Thanks this.

Prime also has dedicated accounts that you could get onto after training. You would gross about 1000-1200 a week.visionarygvp Thanks this.

What's a CLP?
Nevermind, Commercial Learner's Permit. I don't think they had those when I got my CDL back in 1992.Last edited: Jan 30, 2019
visionarygvp and Cattleman84 Thank this. -
Lol... Although they did have them when I got my CDL, I didnt need it... As it was not required just to take the test, I already knew how to drive... I only had to go test to prove it.visionarygvp and bigjoel Thank this.

Dunno if you're interested in relocating to Texas (or just getting a POBox there), but I hear really good things about Roehl. You'd be training in Houston, and getting $500 a week while training. They pay for everything, btw. Forward and driver facing dashcams, in case that would bother you. I hear they pay good and I've yet to see anything super negative in regards to their training and safety.
