Good thread I just started reading it. Did you start as a company man and how long did you do that and how was the average pay?

    Crusader66 Thanks this.

Thanks, I ran company for six months then switched to the lease, after running the company truck as if I was leasing it for about three months, I knew I could be successful doing the lease.

Company driver starting pay is based on experience and job history. On the longhaul fleet I average about 3100 miles a week, on the regional fleets they average less.

    Crusader66 and tony97905 Thank this.

Can any of you current drivers tell me how good or bad the medical insurance is? It’s just for me so pricing and deductible cost would be great. Thanks

Ok great. I'm a newb, getting a cdl this year so I've been researching a lot of companies. I'm a former auto tech for 20 years, so going with a new career. Truck driving was my 2nd choice over auto tech back in the 90's.

    Crusader66 Thanks this.

How long is the length of a FCC lease? Do they have different options (6mo, 1 year, 3 year, etc)?

    Crusader66 Thanks this.

Like @truckerim2055 said the average length is 3 1/2 years and it’s NOT a walk away lease.

I can’t help because I use the VA for my medical, and as a lease driver a use a third party for my dental, vision, life, and Occ/Acc insurance. That cost me about $42.09 a week.

Thanks Runningman, even for a contractor that’s not bad if your getting it through FCC. Appreciate the reply though.

    Crusader66 and runningman0661 Thank this.
