Talk to a Mercer recruiter and they will send you all the information on equipment cost and company requirements on the truck and driver/owner. Back when I was signing on with them they had it to me within the day if I recall. They will include a map of the Mercer campus and rules they would like you to follow while on their campus.
Mercer, Whats to be expected for startup cost of equipment?

Also, the van division is pretty good right now, if you dont like being out in the cold....
-
Yeah, the freight availability of van vs flat is surprising. Usually flat freight is leaps and bounds over van, but not so much right now at least in the Midwest.

It'll be 3400-4000 up front you'll neve half down and you'll be repaying it back at $50 a day for 60-90 days.. Along with that you'll still have your regular fees coming out everyday as well.. Most people have between 26-30 a day worth a fees. That's your trailer payment insurance permits etc. So for your first 2-3 months you'll be paying $80 a day in fees.. And trust me they will get their money off top whergew you run or sit
Highway Sailor Thanks this. -
That is very true But let me add they are very fair and nowhere else are you going to get a better deal then that. Purchasing equipment, tarps and the trailer lease with plates, insurance will cost you over 100.00 per load setelment for a few months depending how you run. Now if you don't want deductions pay Mercer in advance when they send the bill. Now for me I'm purchasing a trailer from them as well as insurance, tractor plates witch equates 6o 50.00 per day per month that I owe them. If I cant afford 50.00 per day as well as my daily overhead for my tractor and business I wouldn't be here I would find an hourly job that paid every week. You want to have money in the bank in the event of a breakdown or you just don't pull loads that don't pay well and you just sit or move into better areas. Working at Mercer you are the decision maker for your future. They offer you the future…..It's up to you what you do with it. I'm going on 3 years leased with them And I have found them to be strait forward and honest with me every time.Corso1504, JonJon78, TripleSix and 1 other person Thank this.

No it's not a $100 per load, it's a $100 per day.. Let's give out correct info.. He will have $100 a day in fees.. So he has to run long and for allot of money cause sjort loads he won't see any money..

Wrong...i just hired on 2 weeks ago. My deductions have been under $100 per load with 4 loads in going on 5.
My trl lease is...$26 per day
License/tag ... $7per day
Occ/acc insurance 4.82 per week
Phys damage tractor...$34 per month (03 FLD)
Phys damage trl...61 per month (16 great dane step)
Bobtail...$20 per month
Omnitrac...$45 per month
So...we're talking $38.92 per day
So unless you're a complete muppet, its totally doableLast edited: Feb 4, 2019
Bigredhammah and JonJon78 Thank this. -
Also remember the cost of a tag drops off after 5 months, so I'll only be kicking out $31 and change a day
Comes to about $12.5k per year....well within MY parameters of succeeding in my business, but each one of us is different -
You're right...i screwed that up. Comes out to around $42 per day
Tug Toy Thanks this.
