Both are the same, there is no one better than the other.

What matters is cost when it needs to be repaired and I think DD engine has the edge.

No. You are looking at it wrong, it doesn't matter what the package is, the contents matter, when you look at a truck, look at what you want to do first and look at the specs of the truck. Find one that fits your needs then do your due diligence by having it looked at, dyno/blowby and so on.

I was a tech since the eighties, turned driver 2016.I lost complete confidence in Cummins after the introduction of the ISX (99-01)Somewhere around there.I thing about Detroit (I went to Diesel Institute Of America)in the eighties, the Detroit instructor claimed Detroit had the 60 series out a long time before making it available,as to work all the bugs out,if any and then gave so many to the bigger trucking companys and Detroit only techs to service and perform any repairs,as to come up with better thoughts, some of you guys might remember the old 2 stroke/oil leakers...They re entered the truck scene and pushed hard to gain respect, point being,,,,,,if anyone wants to spend that much money/time/redevelopment and wants a 110% trouble free engine, before selling it to the public has my vote, just my 2 cents

Although,I somewhat recall detroit losing when it came to recommended oil changes intervals and such, things may have changed though,am speaking of 2009 and earlier. When all the regeneration and other emission controlled trucks (government pushed) became more problematic along with large amounts of down time, still warranted, shop says get in line. You guys know how that goes? I got away from trucks period, for a few yrs!
