Sometimes it’s not up to the corporation as to the size of their lot. Sometimes it comes down to what they can get permits for, drainage, etc. Take the Loves in Dodge City for example. Their lot is limited by the ditch and drain field to the west and south of the truck parking. When it comes to zoning the actual facilities inside the building also play into how much parking they will be permitted for. You won’t get away with having parking for 200 trucks and have 2 urinals and a couple toilets in the men’s room.
And sit down restaurants don’t make money anymore. It’s not what the majority wants. My ex wife worked in the office at Muralt’s in Missoula for quite a while. The restaurant was a money loser for many years and when it got to the point that the rest of the business could no longer absorb the loss they closed it and opened up a franchised Wheat Montana deli. Basically everyone that says they want a sit down restaurant wasn’t putting their money where their mouth is so many of them are closing and new fuel stops are opening up without them.

I'm going to name 4 restaurants that if someone travels the area they'll know where I'm talking about... Jubitz Restraunt/Bar, Coburg Cafe, Gordy's Restaurant, The restaurant in Pasco, Wa. by the truck washes. I stop at these places every time I'm in the area and whenever I'm in there, there might be one or two other truck drivers the rest are just local people having breakfast. None of the "Yuba City Piss Bombers" or any the other hundred trucks that are parked in the lots even by a cup of coffee. BTW one more place. Pollard Flat. I've never stopped there before but I always drive by and wonder if any of the trucks that are parked there ever even by $10 worth of food at the restaurant. I doubt it.

Pollard Flat always seems to be half-filled with UPS drivers doing their swap.TIMPTE 527 Thanks this.

I think you’re talking about King City by the truck washes.
Challenge accepted about Pollard flats. Never stopped there, but always see trucks. I’ll eat there next time I’m through. Guess I needed a reason to stop. -
I do not have an issue with parking. I only use truck stops for getting fuel. This is the nice part about what i pull. I can park at the livestock barns where i load, or unload. Between point A & B i use other large lots at other livestock barns. On the rare occasion i have to park at a truck stop, i will look for the bigger truck stops with plenty of parking spaces. I was only commenting on the parking issue as it seems to be a hot topic in the industry. I do not run an ELD, and am exempt from doing so. So i have no issue as the many stories i hear about the subject of ELD's and parking.Boardhauler Thanks this.

Understood.
Some TS have me thinking about the Mos Eisley spaceport. Where you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
I’m just a lowly company driver doing my best and because of that I often run freight and lanes that limit me on where to stop. For Western it’s against company policy to park a lot places including dirt lots, on ramps, and in fields or living rooms next to Swift drivers. So I’ve got shippers, TS, and rest areas. At least at a TS I can get a shower and some food.
It’s my lot in life until I buy my own tractor or have the prerequisite experience to change to a different carrier. I’ll be here at Western at least through July when my 1st year is up.kemosabi49 Thanks this. -
...Where do you take a shower??? Just asking...
