As a newer driver with a CB (just bought it a month ago) I’d lay the blame on current drivers.
So far, to me, the I-5 corridor is a black hole of static and silence. That’s not just newer drivers. I was trying to get some road conditions yesterday from someone who just came down Siskiyu and I got a whole lot of nothing. Must’ve called out 4-5 times over 20 miles looking for someone who had their ears on. Finally a guy who sounded about 20 in a Marten truck told me road was clear except for a few patches of ice and some light snow falling places.
I’ll say this.
If traffic backs up my CB lights up with questions and what lane to be in. That just tells me there’s a lot of CB’s off and not being monitored. Who do we blame for that.

@otterinthewater
You have it on 17 for i5...? -
Traffic going to opposite direction could have been hollering giving them a heads up, therefore drivers would have been slowing down.MACK E-6, Meteorgray, 4mer trucker and 1 other person Thank this.

first indicator was a solid 30 seconds before any real action. the ice/slush evident on the zipper says the road is not good. would have been the opportune time to back out of it.

Why do I get the distinct impression I’m about to be sent to the auto parts store for synthetic blinker fluid and a 6 X 9 hole saw? HahahahahaMeteorgray, tramm01, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -

I'm always on 19 now. Quit 17 a few years ago. To many base stations on 17. Seems like a shift is happening because I get more talk on 19 than 17 now.
