The truck I bought was a factory 4 axle with a steerable lift. I knew when I bought it that the axle would be coming off as I have no need for it. So this weekend with the help of a friend we yanked it off.
Axle is off and fabbing up a blind mount bracket for the fenders.

Because it had a lift I had to move the 5th wheels slide back 12”. At the rear most position it is now centered between the tandems.

Test fitting the new deckplate that I had a local shop build for me. Also the spare holes from the axle were welded closed.

Some fresh black paint.

And done with everything out together and fenders mounted.

Pretty good wheelbase on that thing. How you liking the new truck?
-
That's a w9 right, or is it a 990?
-
Looks a lot longer than 265”. Nice work, Nice Truck!!
wore out Thanks this. -
Maybe it’s build sheet shows 265” to center of middle axle. Now more like 290” from center of front hub to center of axle group?Put the tape measure on it , I’m dying to know, unless that bunk is a 48”? Either way looks sharp!!
Al. Roper Thanks this. -
I thought you were looking at a kw awhile back, that's what I figured it was.wore out Thanks this.

I had my mind made up that I wanted a wide cab just because I wanted something different. I couldn’t find a good used midroof 680. I found one 680 that had the tall bunk and 260” wheelbase but it was an ex-Swift flatbed truck. This truck was out in MT and I’ve known it since it was new. I’m pretty happy with it so far. I don’t think I could go back to a narrow cab after being in this one.Al. Roper Thanks this.
