$1900 Tow Bill

From the pictures I cant blame the company...

 

Small trucking companies will screw a driver more than a Mega.

 

The driver did a good job with load securement though.

 

Maybe $1900 will teach him to swing wide next time. Unless I'm missing something, the road he came off of is plenty wide to make that turn. Added to the fact that he could have very easily saved himself if he was watching his mirrors during the turn. I mean he wasn't even close ...

 

I know. Teach the driver a lesson by illegally charging the driver for business expenses..... Makes sense to me...
That said that would be the last load that driver would be doing for me. If he misses the turn by that much (during the day, night without lights I'll give leeway) what else is he just scraping by on?

 

if that's the caliber of driver you hire it's just as much your fault as his, also a cost of doing business.

 

Maybe they were given a choice, pay the tow bill or go home and don't ever come back. Be real fun looking for another job with that sort of stupid going to be told to your prospective new employer.

 

This is true actually. I'm a hypocrite because I can't stand when companies try and pawn off expenses on a driver. I had it happen to me a long time ago when I worked for a miller coors distributor. Accidentally dropped a small pallet of really expensive craft beer. They charged me $500. A huge billion dollar company decided to pawn off a $500 incident on a kid who was barely scraping by while working 80 hours a week for this company. It changed my whole attitude towards the job. I refused to do any forklift work for them again, and started doing the bare minimum work just to get by until I eventually quit to pursue truck driving.
