Battery backup

I had a 120 volt refrigerator, if it happened to attempt to start at the same time as I started the truck, this would create a brown-out condition off the inverter causing the starter circuits in the fridge to burn out.
So I got into the habit of shutting off the inverter, start up the truck, then turn the inverter back on.
A better solution I have now, I use a Maxwell Engine Start Module. Works great, as the Maxwell supplies all the power the starter needs, there is no low voltage condition to bother the inverter.

 

A UPS is certainly faster and cheaper solution, I have always used APC brand I have several in the house they work well. Check out this one from Amazon

Find out how many watts is your inverter then buy the UPS that has that many watts or more, this one you link to might be too small.

 

You would need the big one that I link to.

 

the one you linked is way to small.... only 350w

800w will be fine.... you will never have that much running when your starting the truck unless you have a mirco running

I think you’ll find the money on a UPS wasted. They are only good for a limited number of switches and being on a noisy inverter with lots of voltage drops and surges will wear it out fast. But I could be wrong. I’m basing my comment on past experiences in a building with very frequent minor voltage changes due to huge draws on the system at machine startups. We were lucky if one lasted 3 months. But they may have improved UPSs in the past 10 years.

 

TURN OFF YOUR INVERTER BEFORE YOU START YOUR TRUCK.

The inverter is not made for that abuse and this is one reason why fridges crap out.

I use them on most of the trucks now, they work well, no more dead batteries or electrical problems.

Don't put a UPS in line with an inverter, it isn't made for this and can cause more problems, even when a few people swear they won't - they do.
