Great thread, lots of good information here. I'll be starting Maverick orientation on March 24, 2019. I will be running in their Atlantic (regional) Flatbed division.
JimTheHut Thanks this. -
After everything is approved, how long does it take to get an orientation date?
-
If you are approved then you should get a call from the recruiter and he should tell you that you can start on the next upcoming Sunday.
-
Once everything is approved, they will try to get you into the next available class after you obtain your cdl. Depending on what division you choose, there may or may not be an opening in the next class. In that case they would just get you into the following class. There is a new class every week.

Well it has been 4.5 years since I got out of the truck and took on the over the road recruiter position.
I was notified yesterday that they are down sizing the department and was offered a position back in a truck. I was extremely grateful and said I would love to be in the dedicated boat division out of Elkhart Indiana. That division runs all 48 plus Canada. Out 2 to 3 weeks at a time.
I will be in North Little Rock on the 13th to turn in my car. I will then be given the opportunity to test out on Securement. If need be I will stay for the week of securement training. After that I have to attend a two day class on boat securement. Then I will be heading to Elkhart Indiana to begin my new adventure.
All of the time I was in recruiting, counts as if I was still in the truck driving, so I do not lose any pay.
I enjoyed my time in recruiting but I was becoming very bored. I was getting so tired of looking at blank faces, or those playing with their phones or whatever they chose to do.
Those are the people who will end up at a bad company and be saying Trucking Sucks!
Trucking is trucking! It is a lifestyle, not a job and every company is different. Do your research! You will not find a better company when you look at the entire company, the trucks, the pay, the training...ect....
Very Proud to be a Maverick and ready to hit the road!motocross25, RERM, localguy65 and 6 others Thank this. -
Welcome back to the truck Jim!
-
Will they put u in a new truck or get a hand me down? -
Since the trucks are a little bit different for this division, I do not know if it will be a brand new one or not. They replace them about every three years, so you will never drive a piece of junk at Maverick. My last truck was a 2014 and it was awesome so I will be happy with anything that they give me.pusherman Thanks this.

Thank you! I will have to go out there and practice what I have been preaching for 4.5 years to the students. I will definitely get back to updating this thread. There was not too much to tell of interest just going into schools...but now I will be doing something that I have never done and also going places I have never gone. So I am excited!!pusherman and Truckermania Thank this.
