60D538D9-04AA-4AA7-974E-830EC4B49741.jpeg Top of the morning fellow truckers and trucking enthusiasts! I’m currently about to start an extensive project of changing my entire drive train on my truck. Currently it’s a 2001 Peterbilt 379 Shorthood that came with a C-12 motor, Eaton 13 speed and 3.70 rears. I found a 2ws with a factory rating of 475 core I’m about to get fully rebuilt and bumped up to a 600. I’m thinking of getting the 2050 clutch and mate it with another 13speed transmission. My question I’m guessing is the rear end ratio. I currently have 3.70 rear ends that have my rpms around 1500 at 66 mph. I’m thinking I should go 3.23s or 3.36s. I have standup 11r22.5 tires and I run 99% of the time between Central New Jersey and Florida pulling 41-44k lbs. any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank yu

A 2ws likes to cruise at around 1400 rpm. I wouldn't chug it much lower at high hp levels. With your tire size your 3.70s are maybe a little low but not bad.

With your light GVWs 3.36 would be optimum.
